The decision has been sitting there for a while now. You have moved it three times. Each time there was a reason, and each reason was true. Too much on. Wrong moment. One more piece of information would help.

The reasons are real. They are also not why it is still sitting there.

A postponed decision is a decision already made, not yet admitted.

Delay keeps an option open. Keeping the option open is the thing being protected, and the mind will supply reasons for as long as the protection is wanted. That is what minds do. The reasons feel like analysis. They are supply.

Look at what the delay protects. It is usually one of a small number of things. An option you do not want to lose. An image of yourself that the decision would contradict. A relationship that the decision would change. Once you can name which one, the reasons stop arriving, because they were never the point.

The structural alternative is a date.

A decision with a date beats a decision with a reason, every time, because a date cannot be argued with. Choose the day. On that day, decide with whatever you know then. Not with what you hoped to know. The information you are waiting for either arrives by then or it was never coming.

If, on the date, you still cannot decide, that is information too. It means the protected thing is worth more to you than the decision, and you can stop pretending the delay is about timing.

Next week: the no that turned into a maybe.
